The Promoters of the Kellevie 300, 30 Minutes from Hobart
The Southern Off Road Racing Association (SORRA) started off as the southern branch of the northern based TORCC.
In 1992 the southern branch secured the use of private property 30 minutes from Hobart. The property is at Kellevie (halfway between Hobart and Port Arthur) and is owned by Bernard and Maria Woolley.
The southern home of off road racing was quickly established and the south’s first off road event – the Kellevie 300 - was successfully staged in 1993.
The K300 - River Crossings, Twisty Bush and Fast Sections
Interest in off road racing began to flourish and before long the branch grew into the new Southern Off Road Racing Association Inc. (SORRA).
The Kellevie 300 is staged in a valley alongside the Calton River and upholds what off roading is all about – a test of endurance for competitors and machines alike. The event is a true off-road event and has a reputation for its toughness.
The challenges that the K300 throws up are equal to anything encountered at the national events - with river crossings, twisty bush sections and fast sections over a 6.5 km course. It is regarded as Tasmania’s premier off road event.
Affiliated with CAMS
SORRA is affiliated with, and operates under the rules and regulations of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS).
It’s not just competition members who are attracted to SORRA. The Club’s Social membership category is just as popular with family fun days held throughout the year.
